Few objects say “I have interesting taste” quite like a phrenology head on a bookshelf. This handsome ceramic bust is modelled after the famous L.N. Fowler design, with the cranium mapped into labelled regions of supposed mental faculties: Benevolence, Combativeness, Alimentiveness, and other gloriously specific Victorian categories.
This is a 20th-century reproduction rather than an original, but it’s extremely well made — crisp lettering, a creamy white glaze, and a satisfying heft. No chips, cracks, or crazing.
Whether you’re a fan of the history of pseudoscience, a collector of unusual objects, or simply need the perfect conversation piece, this is the one.
